Finally: xorg modular!

After a lot of fights, of insults I received, of “it’s a portage problem” answers, finally Xorg modular compiles clean on Gentoo/FreeBSD πŸ™‚
I’ve just committed it to the overlay with a patch (already submitted upstream) to fix its compile on FreeBSD systems.
Yesterday I found out that mesa 6.4 did not require any kind of patching as the patch I submitted upstream was applied, and that really made me feel like finally we’re getting a bit of attention πŸ™‚

I wish to thank Donnie for his patience with me trying to get that working on portage, and Eric Anholt for his job on maintaining Xorg working on FreeBSD. I do not want to thank one specific Xorg dev, and everybody who knows me well enough knows who I’m referring to; no thanks for you trying to hinder the bugfixing, as you don’t care if it’s non-Linux.

Well now that we are sure that we won’t lay around with a broken Xorg, GNOME fixing is probably one of the important things we should be up to… the problem of that is the need for devs. People if you want to help, please join #gentoo-bsd or the gentoo-bsd mailing list, and start looking at the doc to become devs. We need you! πŸ™‚

P.S.: Michael, how’s the G/ALT Handbook going? πŸ˜›
